“Is it completely weird if I thank you right now?” I ask quietly.

Andrés and I are both catching our breaths, lying beside one another on the couch with a blanket being shared between us. I feel like Jell-O, completely at peace with zero care for anything at all, except of course for thanking Andrés apparently.

He laughs. “Thank me?”

“I’m not sure where that came from,” I say, putting my forearm over my face and shaking my head. “It’s the post-bliss moments, they do things to me, make me a completely different person. One who is less sane, clearly.”

Andrés gently moves my arm to uncover my face, leaning over me with the proudest grin. “You can thank me for that anytime you want, Aria. But if we’re throwing around thank-yous, then I should thank you also.”

I’m smiling so big my cheeks are starting to hurt. Post-orgasmic bliss, I tell you. I will die on that hill, thank you all very much.

“I know why I felt the need to thank you, but why do you feel the need to thank me?”

“Oh, that’s easy.”

“How so?”

“Well, you chose me over Tarzan,” he says with a straight face. “I was only maybe seventy-five percent confident that it would work in my favor. And I’m really glad it did.”

“Yeah, I’ll bet you are.”

“But really, thank you for letting me in,” he starts to say, then pauses at my wide eyes and grin. “I meant that metaphorically, but it for sure works in the literal sense, too. So, thank you twice, I guess.”

“You’re so very welcome, Dre,” I flirt, lacing my fingers through his and holding his hand in mine. “I’m looking forward to it happening again sometime.”

“Oh, it will, roomie,” he promises.

And if that promise is the only one he ever keeps, then that’s more than okay with me.
